Ruari O’Connell qualified as a pharmacist in 1991. After graduating from the School of Pharmacy, University of London, in 1990 he worked in community pharmacy for 18 years for all of the major multiples as well as smaller independent chains. In 2009 He became Bristol CCG’s first full time practice support pharmacist and has worked in over 30 GP practices in Bristol.
He qualified as an Independent Prescriber in 2011 and has various prescribing interests, including Men’s Health, Hypertension, Pain, Mental Health, Anticoagulation & Dermatology. For the last three years he has worked full-time at a single GP practice as part of the NHS England Pharmacist Pilot and during this time his areas of prescribing interest have greatly increased. Ruari has recently published practice guidelines on the treatment of eczema and psoriasis.
Ruari is quite musical and plays guitar, 5 string banjo and mandolin.
