Ruari O’Connell qualified as a pharmacist in 1991 graduating from the School of Pharmacy at the University of London.
Since 1990, Ruari has worked in community pharmacy across all of the major multiples as well as smaller independent chains. In 2009, He became the Bristol Clinical Commissioning Group’s first full-time practice support pharmacist, working across over 30 GP practices in Bristol.
He qualified as an independent prescriber in 2011 and has various prescribing interests, including men’s health, hypertension, pain, mental health, anticoagulation & dermatology.
For the last three years, he has worked full-time at a single GP practice as part of NHS England’s pharmacist pilot. During this time, his areas of prescribing interest have greatly increased. Ruari has recently published practice guidelines on the treatment of eczema and psoriasis.
Ruari is a music enthusiast and plays guitar, 5 string banjo, and mandolin.
