Vicks Sinex Micromist begins to work within a few minutes, and will continue to ease symptoms for six to eight hours. It provides reliable relief from symptoms such as congestion, feverish pain and headaches.
This is a high-strength decongestant which should be used for a maximum of 7 consecutive days.
Decongestant nasal sprays should not be used for more than 7 days. Prolonged use longer than this period will cause the congestion to return when the spray is topped. If you feel the need to continue use after 7 days treatment you should see your GP.

Adults, including the elderly and children 12 years and over:

Use 1-2 sprays per nostril every 6-8 hours unless advised otherwise by your doctor.

  • Before first usage, press down on the pump twice to ensure the pump is correctly primed.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What symptoms will this treat?

Vicks Sinex Micromist is used to treat nasal congestion, which can occur due to cold, flu or allergens.

  • How does this treatment work?

The active ingredient in this treatment is a non-drowsy decongestant called oxymetazoline. It reduces inflammation in the nasal passages by interacting with alpha receptors in cells on the surrounding skin. This action makes blood vessels in the area contract, which reduces the blood flow to the linings of the sinuses. Without the inflammation, the nasal passages will normalise, easing symptoms. This is a very localised treatment which is unlikely to cause any side effects elsewhere. Oxymetazoline further reduces congestion by inhibiting the production of excess mucus. These effects begin within a few minutes of treatment and will last for up to eight hours.

  • How do I use this treatment?

Spray either once or twice into each nostril. This can be repeated every six to eight hours, depending on the severity of your symptoms. Do not share this nasal spray, as it may spread whichever infection is causing your symptoms.

Do not use Vicks Sinex Micromist for more than seven consecutive days. After this point, the treatment will be come less effective, and there is a higher chance that congestion will return once you stop the treatment.

  • Is Vicks Sinex Micromist suitable for me?

This treatment should not be used by children under the age of 12.

Vicks Sinex Micromist is known to interact with monoamine oxidase inhibitors. This includes antidepressants (e.g. phenelzine, tranylcypromine) and some medicines for Parkinson’s (e.g. andrasagiline, selegiline). Do not use this treatment if you have taken an MAOI in the previous 14 days.
