When you use Anusol Plus HC Suppositories to treat your piles, you will be able to benefit from relief from a range of symptoms that are associated with haemorrhoids.

This includes reducing inflammation, soothing the affected area, easing pain, and reducing irritation as well as itching. Designed for adults aged 18 and over, this treatment is administered rectally and because it also contains hydrocortisone it can get to work rapidly to provide soothing relief for your symptoms.

You can use these suppositories at night, in the morning, and after each bowel movement. The hydrocortisone in the suppositories will help to bring down inflammation, which in turn can provide enhanced relief.

If you are constipated a laxative may be helpful to prevent straining and help you to go more regularly. Bulk forming laxatives like Fybogel are useful for this and are gentle enough to be taken when you need them.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How are Anusol cream, ointment and suppositories different from each other?

The Anusol cream and the ointment have the same active ingredients. The Anusol ointment, however, is thicker and relieves sore, dry skin. Anusol cream is thinner which some people find easier to apply.

Anusol suppositories are inserted directly inside the anus. All three medications provide the same treatment, relief from haemorrhoids.

  • Can I drink alcohol while using these treatments?

Yes, you can consume alcohol while taking with these medications.

  • Will the treatments affect my ability to drive?

You should be able to drive while taking these treatments, provided your ability to do so does not become compromised by any side effects. If you feel as though your symptoms interfere, do not drive and consult your doctor.

  • Are these treatments available over-the-counter?

You don't need a prescription to buy Anusol HC PLUS from our online pharmacy but if you prefer a larger tube or a stronger medication for haemorrhoids, you'll need to complete a short online consultation. Our facility allows you to have your case examined by a registered practitioner, who will issue a prescription if it is suitable for your condition.

  • What dosages are available with Anusol plus HC?

At The Independent Pharmacy, we provide the Anusol Plus HC ointment in the 15g dosage and the Suppository as 33mg dosages. These have been formulated by the manufacturer to maximise efficacy whilst minimising potential side effects.

Should you require a larger tube, we can also provide the prescription only Anusol HC Ointment in a 30g tube.

  • What are the benefits to using Anusol HC?

Haemorrhoids are an uncomfortable condition. Luckily, treatments like Anusol-HC provide much needed relief and aid recovery. Anusol HC doesn't just soothe the area but also reduces swelling.

This treatment, along with a diet that includes more fibre and fluids, will help haemorrhoids heal more quickly.

Anusol is formulated to relieve symptoms such as:

    • Itching.
    • Faecal leakage.
    • Irritation.
    • Bleeding after a bowel movement.
    • Painful bowel movement.
