These eye drops can be used for minor bacterial infections of the eye and contain propamidine as the active ingredient. It is an antibacterial treatment that works by preventing bacteria from multiplying. In other words, the amount of bacteria that cause an infection is controlled.
If you are suffering with a minor eye infection, such as conjunctivitis, it is important to use a flannel and warm water to keep the eye as free as possible of discharge. This will help you to see more clearly and clear the infection faster.
Brolene Eye Drops is one of the most effective products when it comes to the treatment of eye infections such as conjunctivitis and users are recommended to place 1-2 drops into the affected eye up to four times a day. These drops are so effective because they contain propamidine which is known for its ability to kill bacteria and prevent them it growing again. When you place these drops directly into the eye, you are allowing the medicine to quickly deal with the bacteria causing the infection.
Adults, including the elderly and children 12 years and over:
Apply one or two drops into the eye up to four times daily.
Please do not exceed the maximum daily dose of 8 drops in 24 hours.
Do not take doses more frequently than every 4 hours.
The active ingredients contained in this medicine is/are:
Propamidine Isetionate 0.1% w/v.
The medicine also contains the following inactive ingredients to make up the complete product:
Benzalkonium Chloride (Preservative), Ammonium Chloride, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Hydroxide and Water for Injections.
Reading the following warnings carefully will help to ensure you are selecting an appropriate product.
- After 4 weeks of opening these eye drops, discard any unused solution.
- Until you are sure you can see clearly after using the drops, avoid driving or operating machinery.
- Avoid wearing soft or hard lenses.
- Discontinue using the eye drops and contact your doctor, if you experience any allergic reaction.
