Eumovate Cream: This ointment contains the active ingredient clobetasone butyrate and is part of the topical corticosteroid family. It is a cream that reduces inflammation and irritation. It can be used to treat eczema, dermatitis and other skin conditions.

Pharmacist Tip

Steroid creams are useful for treating difficult, unresponsive or flare-ups of dry skin conditions. Eumovate cream is a medium strength steroid (the most potent steroid cream available without a prescription) which should be applied thinly no more than twice a day.

Eumovate is an easy to apply cream and is used to treat skin irritations such as dermatitis and eczema.

When it is applied to the skin, the cream’s active ingredient works to decrease the release of the inflammatory substances that cause skin irritation and the result is a reduction in itchiness and redness.

Steroids should not be used on infected areas and for large treatment areas, seek advice from your doctor first.

If treating areas of dry skin with a sterooid and an emollient, apply the emollient first then allow 10-15 mins, the skin should feel tacky but not slippery ,before applying the steroid cream.

Adults and children 12 years of age and over:

Apply the cream thinly to the affected area twice each day for a maximum of seven days.

Discontinue using this cream and consult your doctor, if your skin gets worse or if your skin does not improve within seven days.
