Professional Background & Qualifications

Donald holds the MBChB (Bristol, 1985), DRCOG, MRCGP and a Diploma in Orthopaedic Medicine. With 30 years of experience in General Practice, he gained Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners in 1992. He has particular interests in orthopaedic medicine and women’s health, reflected in his postgraduate diplomas. Over the course of his career, he has also worked as a GP appraiser and served as clinical governance lead in one of the practices where he worked, taking responsibility for quality and clinical oversight.

Areas of Expertise & Current Role

Donald is semi-retired from clinical practice but continues to work as a GP locum and retains full GMC registration. He has worked with pharmacists at The Independent Pharmacy since its inception, bringing a clinical perspective based on his extensive experience to inform the prescribers’ online work. He provides support and guidance as needed, including assisting team members on the path to becoming independent prescribers.

Donald strongly believes that organisations and individuals can only progress and thrive through the sharing of knowledge and continuous learning. He feels that all team members should have the opportunity to be heard, with their opinions and ideas respected. This principle also extends to patients, who he believes should have access to the information they need to make informed decisions about their care.

Personal Details

Donald is a loving husband, father and grandfather. He recently relocated to a more rural home and enjoys spending time in his garden.
