Compeed Cold Sore Information
What are Compeed Cold Sore Patches?
Compeed Cold Sore Patches contain hydrocolloid active gel technology that can be applied directly to a cold sore as soon as they start to appear. Each patch works for 12 hours to ease discomfort, quickly heal and reduce the scabbing caused by cold sores.
Each box contains 15 self-adhesive, discreet translucent patches that are applied directly to the cold sore to improve symptoms from day one, protect the irritated skin from infection, contain the virus and improve your confidence during a flare-up.
What are Compeed Cold Sore Patches used for?
Compeed Cold Sore Patches are an excellent treatment option to speed up the healing of cold sores. When applied as soon as you notice the telltale tingling sensation, these patches provide the perfect environment for the skin to heal with less scabbing and crusting.
What are cold sores?
Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus or HSV. HSV causes fluid-filled blisters to appear on or around your lips that later burst and become crusty. Although cold sores are not harmful they can cause people to feel self-conscious or embarrassed.
There is, unfortunately, no cure for HSV and once you have the virus you are likely to continue to experience flare-ups of cold sores for the rest of your life. However, using Compeed Cold Sore Patches allows you to take control, discreetly containing the virus and speeding up the healing process.
How do Compeed Cold Sore Patches work?
These Compeed Cold Sore Patches use hydrocolloid technology to support the body’s healing process to speed up how quickly the skin repairs itself. The patches are self-adhesive and work by drawing fluid out of the cold sore while keeping the surrounding skin moist. This process promotes healing by preventing the cold sores from scabbing while at the same time keeping germs away.
How quickly do Compeed Cold Sore Patches work?
Compeed Cold Sore Patches are recommended for use as soon as you feel a cold sore developing and can be used throughout all stages. The hydrocolloid technology gets to work as soon as the patch is applied and maintains its powerful healing action for 12 hours.
Alternatives to Compeed Cold Sore Patches
These cold sore patches are great over-the-counter treatment option for the times when leaving your cold sore to heal on its own is just not an option.
If you are suffering from cold sores that are stubborn or severe and do not appear to respond to over-the-counter treatments it is a good idea to discuss prescription treatments with a pharmacist or doctor. At The Independent Pharmacy, we sell antiviral Aciclovir cream and Aciclovir tablets for cold sores that fight the virus causing your cold sores.
