Daniel Hurley

Dan joined the pharmacist register in 2012 after completing his pre-registration training at Gloucester Royal Hospital. Since then, he has gained wide-ranging experience across hospital pharmacy, specialist psychiatric hospitals, community pharmacy, and as a GP pharmacist for a large practice in Yorkshire.
He has been part of The Independent Pharmacy for five years, during which he has played a key role in supporting and developing both the team and the clinical service. In 2015, he completed his independent prescriber training at the University of Leeds and now brings extensive prescribing experience from both community and hospital settings.
Dan is passionate about making healthcare accessible and supporting people to get the most from their treatments. Inspired by family members living with chronic and enduring mental illness, he strives to put people at the heart of his practice. He is particularly dedicated to helping patients cut through medical jargon so they feel empowered to understand and take charge of their own care.
Alongside his clinical work, Dan has written articles for the British Journal of Pharmacology, the Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education, and Training Matters.
Now based in Bristol, where he has lived for seven years since returning after his student days, Dan has also spent time living across Yorkshire and the West Midlands. Outside of work, he enjoys running, rowing, and spending time with his two children.
