• Is there a Wegovy pill in the UK?

  Not yet. The Wegovy pill has been approved in the United States but is still awaiting approval from the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) in the UK.

• When is the Wegovy pill going to be available in the UK?

  A UK approval decision is expected around mid 2026, although timelines may change.

  If approved, Wegovy tablets are expected to be licensed in the UK for both weight loss and weight maintenance in adults with overweight or obesity.

• Where can I buy the Wegovy pill in the UK?

  The Wegovy pill is not yet available to buy in the UK, as it is still awaiting approval from the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).

• How much will the new Wegovy pill cost?

  If approved in the UK, pricing details will be shared closer to launch. We expect the cost of a month’s supply of the tablet to be similar to that of the injectable pen, although this has not yet been confirmed.

• Does the Wegovy pill cost more than the injection?

  We do not expect the Wegovy pill to cost more than the injection. Current indications suggest the tablet and injection will be priced similarly, although final UK pricing will be confirmed once the treatment receives approval.

• How does the Wegovy pill work?

  The Wegovy tablet activates the same receptors in the brain as the GLP-1 hormone. When combined with lifestyle changes, this may help reduce calorie intake.

  Like the Wegovy injections, Wegovy tablets are always started at a low dose and increased gradually by your clinician. This allows your body to get used to the medication and keep side effects to a minimum.

  The Wegovy tablet can only be taken:

  • First thing in the morning on an empty stomach with no more than 100ml of water.
  • 30 minutes before any other food or drink.
  • Whole. Do not crush, chew, or split the tablet.

  Important: Do not take the Wegovy pill with more than 100ml of water. Taking it with more than this may reduce the amount of the medication your body absorbs, making it less effective.

• How effective is the Wegovy pill?

  The Wegovy pill has undergone clinical trials to prove its efficacy. Results from the OASIS 4 trial showed that participants experienced an average weight reduction of 14% over the 64-week trial period. Approximately one in four people lost 20% or more of their starting body weight.

• What is the difference between the Wegovy pill and the Wegovy injection?

  The Wegovy tablet is taken once daily by mouth, while the Wegovy injection is administered once weekly under the skin. Because tablets are absorbed through the digestive system, different dosing strengths are used compared with the injection.

• Is the Wegovy pill as effective as the injection?

  Yes, clinical trials show that the Wegovy pill is as effective as the Wegovy injection.

• Who is eligible for the Wegovy pill?

  If approved in the UK, the Wegovy tablet could be prescribed for adults with:

  • A body mass index (BMI) of 30 or above.
  • A BMI of 27 or above with a weight-related health condition

  You should not use Wegovy if you are pregnant, planning to get pregnant, or breastfeeding.

  If you miss a dose of the Wegovy pill, simply skip that day’s dose and take the next day’s as usual.

  Yes, the Wegovy pill is effective for weight loss in non-diabetics.

  In the OASIS 4 trial, published in November 2025, participants taking a daily 25mg dose of oral semaglutide experienced an average weight loss of more than 14%.

• What happens if you take too much Wegovy?
