With a decade of professional experience, James is passionate about guiding patients and empowering them to improve their overall health and wellbeing. James graduated from the University of Bath with an MPharm (Hons), and later gained his Independent Prescribing qualification and PGCert.

Professional Background & Qualifications
James graduated from the University of Bath in 2015. Since then, he’s been employed in several pharmacy-based roles, allowing him to develop a dynamic range of skills and a forward-thinking approach to treatment. In addition to managing several pharmacies in Bristol, James oversaw childhood flu vaccine programmes in schools across Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset.
He later returned to the University of Bath as a Teaching Fellow and Lecturer on the undergraduate pharmacy programme. This involved teaching clinical content, consultation skills and facilitating inter-professional workshops with medical students. He also received his Postgraduate Certificate in Primary Care Pharmacy at the University of Bath before completing his Independent Prescribing course at the University of the West of England. Today, he is among our top trusted UK pharmacists at The Independent Pharmacy.
Areas of Expertise & Current Role
At The Independent Pharmacy, James is integral to the leadership department, overseeing and supporting the clinical team. He is particularly interested in process improvement, as well as training and developing other team members. As part of his prescribing role, he reviews consultations to ensure they’re clinically appropriate and mentors other members of the prescribing team.
As an Independent Prescriber, James specialises in treatments surrounding weight loss (Mounjaro & Wegovy), hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and travel health. As one of our expert online pharmacists, he’s committed to finding the right match for each individual and maintains the highest standards of practice.
Personal Approach & Patient Care Philosophy
James began his pharmacy career as a 16-year-old, completing work experience in his local pharmacy in Oldland Common, where he spent his childhood. At 18, he started his career as a dispenser and discovered a deep passion for empowering patients to take an active role in their health. Now a pharmacist at The Independent Pharmacy, he believes in educating and supporting individuals to make informed decisions about their wellbeing, helping them build confidence and creating personalised treatment plans.
Personal Details
James can usually be found at the stables with his family, or competing at various horse shows with their two ponies up to County level. Having grown up in Bristol and being a keen sports fan, he’s an avid supporter of the Bristol Bears and Bristol City, as well as being a long-distance runner. He also enjoys socialising with his friends, finding new places to eat around Bristol and Bath, and going for long walks with his dogs.
