The Independent Pharmacy provides an online healthcare service for a range of non-acute health conditions, sexual health issues and contraception. It involves private and confidential online health consultations with a medical practitioner, the provision of individual health advice and the issuing of private prescriptions for medicines. When placing an order, The Independent Pharmacy will ask you to fill out a questionnaire so that one of our prescribers can assess the current state of your health as well as your medical history and any other relevant information. In some cases, you may be required to provide further information to allow us to be sure that the treatment is going to be safe and effective for you.

We always put the health and well-being of our patients first. If a patient has a more immediate healthcare need or is unsuitable for the types of treatment offered, they will be informed of this by our healthcare team and offered advice and a referral to the appropriate service.

Dr Grant qualified as a Doctor in Bristol in 1985. He has wide clinical experience as a GP in and around Bristol. He has a particular interest in orthopaedic medicine. He also has wide experience of managing change within Primary Care. He has been responsible for introducing telephone triage at his own practice and is therefore well acquainted with the advantages and challenges associated with new ways of working. He is married with a son at University and two Labrador dogs.
Dr Raman Garcha

Dr Garcha qualified from Birmingham University in 2007. He has experience working in general medicine as an NHS hospital doctor, and also works in pharmaceutical medicine and pharmacovigilance (drug safety). He is now studying a MSc in Oncology therapeutics. In his spare time, Raman is learning to play the guitar and is a black belt in Taekwondo.

Simon is married with 3 children, 1 excitable Cocker Spaniel and 2 cats. He is a dedicated lifelong fan of Reading FC having followed them through the highs and lows since the early 80s.

After graduating from the University of Bath he has practiced pharmacy in hospitals in Middlesbrough and Bristol as well as in a variety of community pharmacies. He has experience in auditing and advising doctors on their prescribing, running teaching sessions for doctors and other healthcare professionals and running successful pharmacy stores.
His main focus is in providing holistic care for his patients and helping them above and beyond what is generally expected, whilst supporting his fellow healthcare professionals by providing advice and guidance. Chris continued to develop his knowledge and gained a postgraduate qualification in Clinical Pharmacy followed by qualifying as an Independent Pharmacist Prescriber in 2012. This allows him to use his vast clinical knowledge to prescribe medicines for patients in his areas of specialty. He is married with three children and has recently restarted playing rugby after a 20-year hiatus.

Ruari O’Connell qualified as a pharmacist in 1991. After graduating from the School of Pharmacy, University of London, in 1990 he worked in community pharmacy for 18 years for all of the major multiples as well as smaller independent chains. In 2009 He became Bristol CCG’s first full time practice support pharmacist and has worked in over 30 GP practices in Bristol.
He qualified as an Independent Prescriber in 2011 with interests in Pain Management and Smoking Cessation. For the last three years he has worked full time at a single GP practice as part of the NHS England Pharmacist Pilot and during this time his areas of prescribing interest have greatly increased. Ruari is quite musical and plays guitar, 5 string banjo and mandolin.

Patients of The Independent Pharmacy are self-referred through the website. We provide a private healthcare service that incurs a charge for our patients. Our fees are all clearly displayed on the website.
We do not provide consultations or prescribe for anyone under the age of 18 years old. If a patient is unable to complete the online consultation himself or herself, for whatever reason, we are unable to provide any treatments through our website and suggest that they visit their GP for treatment.
The Independent Pharmacy offers our patients private consultations and prescribing of a range of prescription-only medicines in accordance with the patient’s preferences and wishes subject to a strict medical assessment by a qualified GP or Pharmacist Independent Prescriber. Patients will be able to fill out a confidential, comprehensive medical questionnaire and select a preferred treatment for submission to a prescriber. This is carefully assessed by one of our prescribers to assess the suitability. If the prescriber makes a diagnosis and deems the preferred medicine suitable a private prescription will be produced. All relevant information on the conditions and medicines will be available on the website and will be enclosed with the medicines when they are couriered to the patient.
