Fenistil Cold Sore Cream provides fast and effective relief from painful cold sores and speeds up their healing. Get relief from unpleasant cold sore symptoms with this easy to use, effective anti-viral treatment.

Fenistil contains the active ingredient Penciclovir (1%), an antiviral medication that prevents the cold sore virus from multiplying and infecting surrounding cells.

Apply Fenistil Cold Sore Cream at two hourly intervals during waking hours (about 8 times a day), for 4 days. If the condition worsens or does not improve after 4 days, consult your doctor.

Fenistil Cold Sore Cream is proven effective when applied at the first sign of a developing cold sore. Its formula soothes the unpleasant tingling sensation of cold sores and relieves painful chapped lips. Fenistil Cold Sore Cream will heal your cold sore heals faster and the duration of your pain will be shorter. The cold sore will also be infectious for a shorter amount of time, although it will not prevent contagiousness.

Fenistil Cold Sore Cream should not be used:

  • If you have allergies to penciclovir, famiciclovir or any of Fenistil Cold Sore Cream’s other ingredients
  • Inside your mouth, in or around your eyes, or on your genitals. Only apply it to cold sores on the lips and surrounding skin.

Consult your doctor before using this medication if:

  • You are unsure that your sore is a cold sore.
  • Your sore is severe.
  • You have a condition or are receiving treatment that weakens your immune system.
  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Fenistil Cold Sore Cream treats herpes simplex virus infections of the lips and face in adults, the elderly and children over 12.

Penciclovir triphosphate remains active in infected cells for over 12 hours where it prevents replication of viral DNA. In uninfected cells treated with penciclovir triphosphate, concentrations are barely detectable.

In clinical studies, patients treated with Fenistil Cold Sore Cream healed 30% faster than those treated with a placebo. Also compared with a placebo, pain resolution with Fenistil Cold Cream was 25-30% faster and infection cleared up to 40% quicker. Tests on guinea pigs show that Fenistil Cold Cream is more effective than Acyclovir; no evidence demonstrates that either medication prevents cold sores.

Other medications that treat cold sores include Zovirax cream, Aciclovir cream, Bonjel, Blistex and Cymex

It is best to start treatment when a tingling or burning sensation is felt before a cold sore starts - it is possible to prevent it coming up. You can also use Fenistil on sores that have erupted to reduce healing time.
