Eurax cream is a treatment that can be used to relieve itchiness and irritation associated with a variety of conditions, including:
Eurax cream makes use of an active ingredient known as crotamiton, a medicine which is effective in relieving pruritis (itchy skin). How this process works is not fully understood, however each application can provide up to 10 hours of relief from itchiness. This can be incredibly useful when dealing with the itchiness associated with scabies after a course of anti-parasitic medicine.
For adults and children over the age of three Eurax cream can be applied to the problem areas up to three times a day. Do not apply the cream to areas which are weeping, oozing, broken, or inflamed as this can actually increase the irritation. Eurax should not be applied near the eyes and you should avoid getting any in your ears, nose, and mouth. Thoroughly wash and rinse your hands after applying the cream.
If you experience a burning sensation or develop a rash as a result of using Eurax, stop using it immediately and consult your doctor.
If you are allergic to any of the ingredients contained within Eurax cream then it should be avoided. If you experience an allergic reaction while using Eurax, stop using it immediately and inform your doctor.
Do not apply Eurax cream to children under the age of three unless you have been specifically told to by your doctor. If so, do not apply more than once per day.
All treatments and medications can have varying effects when used by different people. For individuals who are hypersensitive to certain ingredients, Eurax cream may increase irritation. If this occurs, stop using the cream immediately.
If you need any more information on the possible risks of Eurax cream, or have any concerns not addressed here, please speak to a medical professional.
There are no other known medications that can interfere with Eurax, however it is best practice to leave at least 30 minutes before applying different topical lotions and creams.
