When you use Balance Activ Vaginal Gel, you can treat a range of common vaginal problems that can affect women on a day to day basis. This includes vaginal odour and itching, general vaginal discomfort, discharge, and bacterial vaginosis.

The product is able to restore the natural pH balance of the vaginal area and can help to neutralise embarrassing odours so you can get on with your day to day life with confidence.

It can also help to prevent the symptoms from reoccurring once they have cleared up, which means that you can benefit from increased confidence and valuable peace of mind.

Adults, including the elderly and children 12 years and over:

For effective treatment of abnormal discharge, discomfort, vaginal odour and Bacterial Vaginosis, one tube should be used each day for seven consecutive days.

To prevent recurrence of symptoms and to maintain the normal pH balance, use one to two tubes every week.

In order to maintain the natural pH level during treatment with antibiotics, you should use one tube each day at the end of the antibiotics for four to five days.

You should use one tube each day at the end of your period for one to two days, if there is recurrence of symptoms at the end of your cycle.

There are no known side effects for this product.

The active ingredients contained in this medicine is/are:

Lactic Acid

The medicine also contains the following inactive ingredients to make up the complete product:

Glycogen, Propylene Gluycol, Methylhydroxypropyl Cellulose, Sodium Lactate, Water, pH3.8

  • Do not use this gel if you are trying for a family. Balance Activ Vaginal Gel is suitable for use during pregnancy, but you should consult your doctor if you think you have vaginal infection during the pregnancy period. 
  • Avoid using if tube is damaged or is past its expiry date. 
  • Keep out of sight and out reach of children.

We offer FREE standard tracked delivery on orders over £40.

All our orders are sent out using Royal Mail (unless stated). We always aim to dispatch all Royal Mail orders received before 4pm the same working day. Any orders received after 4pm or over the weekend will be dispatched the next working day. We aim to dispatch all DPD orders placed before 3pm on the same working day. Orders will not be dispatched on weekends or bank holidays.

All orders are subject to approval by our team of doctors and pharmacists. Your delivery date in the checkout is subject to your consultation being approved by our healthcare team.

All orders can be fully tracked from your dispatch email and in your account.

We ensure all parcels are in plain packaging for discreet delivery of your medicines and pharmacy goods.

Deliveries containing pharmacy-only or prescription medicines may require a signature on receipt.

Your Royal Mail parcel will arrive with your normal daily delivery of post.

Please note: Royal Mail do not deliver on Sundays or Bank Holidays - this should be taken into account when ordering. 

If you are not home to accept your delivery, a card should be left by the Royal Mail representative. This card will provide details of where you can collect the order or how to arrange re-delivery.

Should you be unable to collect your missed delivery or arrange for your medication to be redelivered by Royal Mail, the pharmacy can resend your medication to the same, or a different address provided it has been returned to us and this happens within a 30 day window.

Once a package has been shipped with Royal Mail we advise that you are bound to the terms and conditions of their use together with the terms and conditions contained herein.

You have the right to cancel your order up to the point when your treatment is dispatched. The pharmacist must destroy any medication within 30 days of it being returned, even un-opened boxes, so we are not able to offer refunds once your treatment has been dispatched.

    Balance Activ BV is an over-the-counter product designed to help ease the symptoms associated with Bacterial Vaginosis (BV). Balance Activ gel can also be used to help maintain the natural pH balance in the vagina, which will help prevent recurrence of BV symtpoms.

  • What does Balance Activ BV contain?

    The ingredients in Balance Activ BV are;

    Lactic acid, glycogen, propylene glycol, methylhydroxypropyl cellulose, sodium lactate, water, pH 3.8.

  • How is Bacterial Vaginosis diagnosed?

    In order to gain a firm diagnosis, a small sample of the vaginal discharge may be sent to a laboratory for analysis. Other tests may be carried out to rule out other possible causes. However, in many cases, the symptoms can be recognised and the condition self-diagnosed. If in any doubt, it is always recommended to consult with your GP.

  • Is Bacterial Vaginosis a sexually transmitted infection?

    No, Bacterial Vaginosis is not a sexually transmitted infection. Male sexual partners will not require treatment after penetrative sex with a BV sufferer. Also, a woman does not need to be sexually active to suffer from Bacterial Vaginosis.

  • Is Balance Activ BV safe?

    Yes, Balance Activ BV has been tried and clinically tested. These trials have proven that both the gel and pessary are safe and effective

  • Do I need to use the whole tube?

    Yes, it is recommended to use the entire contents of the 5ml tube.

  • Does Balance Activ BV have age restrictions?

    Bacterial Vaginosis is usually associated with hormonal changes, such as those that occur during menstruation. As soon as a woman starts to experience monthly periods, Balance Activ BV is safe to use.

  • Is Balance Activ BV safe to use during pregnancy?

    It is always recommended to consult your doctor if you present with a vaginal infection during pregnancy. However, once given the official ok, Balance Activ BV is safe to use during pregnancy.

  • Can I use Balance Activ BV if I am breastfeeding?

    Yes, Balance Activ BV is safe for use whilst breastfeeding.

  • Can I use tampons with Balance Activ BV?

    Yes, Balance Activ BV actually works well with tampons, especially towards the end of menstruation when bleeding is light. It is recommended to squeeze the contents of a 5ml Balance Activ tube onto the end of the tampon before insertion.

  • Can I have a bath or go swimming after applying Balance Activ BV?

    It is better to use Balance Activ BV after bathing or swimming. If used before, there is a risk that some of the product will be washed away by the water, making it less effective. The ideal time to apply Balance Activ BV is at bedtime.

  • How do I safely dispose of the empty tube?

    The empty tubes of Balance Activ BV should be disposed of in accordance with your local refuse and recycling scheme.

  • What are the storage requirements for Balance Activ BV?

    Balance Activ BV should be stored at room temperature.

  • Can I use Balance Activ BV whilst trying to conceive?

    It is not recommended to use Balance Activ BV whilst trying for a baby. The gel has a low pH, which makes the vagina's environment less hospitable for sperm. However, Balance Activ BV should not be used as a method of contraception. 

  • Will Balance Activ BV reduce the effectivness of my oral contracption?

    No, Balance Activ BV does not affect the effectiveness of oral contraception.

  • Will Balance Activ BV help treat thrush?

    Balance Activ BV will not help treat thrush. Thrush is a fungal infection and will need to be treated using antifungal medicines, such as clotrimazole or fluconazole. However, Balance Activ BV will help maintain good vaginal health, which will help prevent fungal infections like thrush from developing in the first place. 

  • During my period, I suffer from vaginal odour and abnormal discharge. Will Balance Activ BV help prevent this?

    Yes. If these unpleasant symptoms recur around the time of your period, using Balance Activ BV towards the end of menstruation can help maintain a natural vaginal pH, which will help prevent these symptoms from reoccurring.

  • When is the optimal time to apply Balance Activ BV?

    The best time to use Balance Activ BV is at bedtime. It is recommended to use the gel along with a pantyliner, as it is not uncommon to experience a small level of leakage.

  • Upon applying Balance Activ BV I suffer a sharp burning sensation. Is this normal?

    This burning sensation can occur if the user has small abrasions in the vaginal tissue. These abrasions are often caused by a vaginal infection. Under this circumstance, the burning sensation will only be temporary. If, however, the burning sensation persists, it is advised to go and see your doctor.
