What is Hycosan Original?

Hycosan Original are preservative-free eye drops that contain a naturally occurring solution of 0.1% Sodium Hyaluronate used to calm and soothe irritation caused by mild to moderate dry eyes.

These lubricating eye drops can be used for up to 6 months after they have first been opened and are the perfect choice for anyone that suffers from irritation due to day-to-day wear of contact lenses. 

 

What is Hycosan Original used for?

Symptoms of dry eyes are a common complaint that can range from mild itching, irritation and stinging to redness, blurred vision and light sensitivity. Hycosan Original eye drops help to lubricate the surface of the eye to settle these symptoms to leave your eyes feeling more comfortable. 

If you are unsure if you are suffering from symptoms of dry eyes it is recommended that you discuss these with a doctor or pharmacist to ensure you get the right treatment for you. 

 

How does Hycosan Original work?

Hycosan Original lubricating eye drops contain 0.1% of the ingredient Sodium Hyaluronate. This substance occurs naturally in the body and when used to treat dry eyes it hydrates the tear film over the surface of the eye helping to soothe irritation and protect them from further moisture loss.

Hycosan Original dosage

Hycosan Original eye drops are for use in the eyes only. Do not swallow. 

Insert 1 drop to the affected eye or eyes 3 - 4 times a day. Most people will find this offers adequate comfort and healing, but they can be used more frequently if needed. 

 

How to use Hycosan Original

  1. Wash your hands before and after use.
  2. Remove the cap from the bottle.
  3. Tilt your head back slightly and pull your lower lid down to form a pocket.
  4. Place your thumb at the top next to the applicator tip and 2 fingers on the base, 
  5. Hold the bottle upside down near to your eye, without touching your eye. Apply pressure to the bottle to release one drop. 
  6. Close your eyes for 1 minute to help the drop absorb. 
  7. Repeat in the other eye and then replace the cap. 

If you are using other eye medication at the same time as these drops, you should wait 30 minutes before applying Hycosan Original. 

Please make sure you follow the directions for use that are printed on each box. If you have, however, been prescribed these Hycosan by a doctor you should follow the instructions they have given to you.

Hycosan Original side effects

It is very uncommon for people to develop side effects whilst using Hycosan Original. However, in the unlikely event that you develop localised irritation to the eye or eyes in which you have applied this product you should stop using it straight away. If your symptoms do not improve, speak to a doctor for advice.

  • Hycosan Original is for use in the eyes only. Do not swallow. 
  • Do not use this product if it has been open for more than 6 months.
  • Keep out of reach of children
  • After each application, your vision may become temporarily blurry. This should resolve quickly as the drops are absorbed. 

 

Hycosan Original in Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

You must speak to a doctor or pharmacist before using this product if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Important Delivery Information

All our orders are sent out using Royal Mail (unless stated). We always aim to dispatch all Royal Mail & DPD orders received before 15:00 the same working day. Any orders received after 15:00 or over the weekend will be dispatched the next working day. Orders will not be dispatched on weekends or bank holidays.

All orders are subject to approval by our team of doctors and pharmacists. Your delivery date in the checkout is subject to your consultation being approved by our healthcare team.

All orders can be fully tracked from your dispatch email, in your online account and from any notifications from your courier.

We ensure all parcels are in plain packaging for discreet delivery of your medicines and pharmacy goods. Where possible, we will attempt to size all parcels to fit through your letterbox in tamper-proof packaging. By placing an order on our website, you confirm that it is safe and appropriate for a package containing medicines to be posted through your letterbox, if the carrier is able to do so. You should notify our customer support team if it is not safe for the package to be posted through the letterbox, for example due to animals or small children.

Deliveries containing pharmacy-only or prescription medicines may require a signature on receipt. 

Delivery is free for all NHS prescriptions.

Your Royal Mail parcel will arrive with your normal daily delivery of post.

Please note: Royal Mail do not deliver on Sundays or Bank Holidays - this should be taken into account when ordering. 

If you are not home to accept your delivery, a card should be left by the Royal Mail representative. This card will provide details of where you can collect the order or how to arrange re-delivery.

Should you be unable to collect your missed delivery or arrange for your medication to be redelivered by Royal Mail, the pharmacy can resend your medication to the same, or a different address provided it has been returned to us and this happens within a 30 day window.

Once a package has been shipped with Royal Mail we advise that you are bound to the terms and conditions of their use together with the terms and conditions contained herein.

You have the right to cancel your order up to the point when your treatment is dispatched. The pharmacist must destroy any medication within 30 days of it being returned, even un-opened boxes, so we are not able to offer refunds once your treatment has been dispatched.
