Description for Daktarin (Miconazole) 2% Cream

Daktarin (miconazole nitrate) 2% cream is an antifungal medication used to treat a range of skin infections, including as athlete's foot, ringworm, candidiasis, scalp infections, nappy rash and nail infections. It contains an antifungal and anti-bacterial agent that reduces irritation and fights infection in the skin.

Product Information

  • Age: From Birth

    Maximum per order: 3

  • Pregnancy: Not suitable

    Breastfeeding: Not suitable

Daktarin (miconazole) 2% cream is an effective treatment for the three main types of fungi. The cream contains an active ingredient known as miconazole nitrate, and it works by killing any fungi present, reducing the symptoms of common skin conditions. It does this by targeting the fungus’ cell membranes, stopping them from functioning properly.

Daktarin 2% cream also contains a minor antibacterial agent that can kill certain harmful bacteria associated with such fungal infections. This helps to stop the bacteria from spreading the infection to other parts of the body, allowing the fungi to slowly die off.

Make sure to wash and dry affected areas on a regular basis. For Daktarin 2% cream to work effectively, patients should continue treatment for up to seven days after their symptoms have disappeared in order to stop the infection from reoccurring.

*Prescription medicines are supplied subject to a medical consultation at the discretion of a doctor.

Always thoroughly wash and dry affected areas of your skin and nails before using any topical treatment.

If you have a skin infection: apply the cream directly to affected areas twice a day, gently rubbing it into the area as well as the surrounding skin.

If you have a nail infection: apply the cream to affected nails either once or twice a day, gently rubbing it into the nail and surrounding area.

Unless the infection is present on your hands, always thoroughly wash your hands after using Daktarin cream. This will help to avoid the spread of infection.

Depending on the severity of your infection it will take anywhere from two to six weeks for the cream to fully clear up the infection. Nail infections usually take longer than skin infections.

Continue using Daktarin cream for at least 7 days after all symptoms have disappeared. This is important as it will ensure that the infection cannot return.

If your symptoms worsen or your infection spreads, always consult with your doctor.

  • Is it okay to use Daktarin Cream Miconazole Nitrate 2% with other treatments/medications?

The chemicals in Daktarin are not able to be absorbed in sufficient enough amounts to affect other oral medications.
