Piriton Syrup

Mothers have used Piriton Syrup for decades and it is a household name when it comes to relieving the symptoms of allergies in children.

The active ingredient is chlorphenamine maleate which is in the antihistamine group of drugs. It can be used to treat allergic symptoms such as redness, itchiness, tenderness and swelling caused by dust mites, nettle rash, chickenpox, hay fever, heat rash and many other conditions.

Just take one dose of this fast acting syrup for long-lasting relief from all of the above symptoms and more.

Reading the following warnings carefully will help to ensure you are selecting an appropriate product.

• Avoid use, if allergic to antihistamines or if MAOI medication is being taken.
• Patients with glaucoma, epilepsy, prostatic hypertrophy, heart disease or elevated blood pressure, asthma, bronchitis, thyrotoxicosis or liver disease should use this medication with caution.
• This syrup should only be taken during lactation or pregnancy only on medical advice.
• Do not consume alcohol when taking this syrup.
• Keep out of reach and sight of children.

Please read all packaging and the Product Information Leaflet before taking any new medicine and inform your doctor of medicines you are taking or intend to take.

Adults, including the elderly and children 12 years and over: Take 10ml every 4 to 6 hours.

Children 6-12 years: Take 5ml every 4 to 6 hours.

Children 2-5 years: Take 2.5ml every 4 to 6 hours.

Children 1-2 years: Take 2.5ml twice every day.

Not to be used by children under 1 year of age.

Do not exceed the maximum dosage

The active ingredients contained in this medicine is/are:

Chlorphenamine maleate 2mg per 5ml.

The medicine also contains the following inactive ingredients to make up the complete product:

Syrup, Glycerol, Ethanol, Tingle flavour, Peppermint oil, Nipasept, Purified Water.

Not everyone will experience side effects when they take medication, however if you do they can include:

Drowsiness or sedation, blurred vision, dry mouth, nausea, dizziness, headache, fatigue, difficulty concentrating and/or co-ordinating.
