Mometasone Furoate Nasal Spray Information

What Is Mometasone Furoate Nasal Spray?

Mometasone furoate nasal spray is a synthetic corticosteroid used to treat allergy symptoms, like itching, blocked or runny noses, or sneezing. It helps reduce the inflammation inside your nose that’s associated with hay fever, year-round allergies and nasal polyps. This helps relieve sneezing, itching and a blocked or runny nose.

Can I Use Mometasone Furoate Nasal Spray?

Mometasone furoate nasal spray treats hay fever (seasonal allergic rhinitis) and perennial rhinitis. It also treats nasal polyps in adults over 18. However, you shouldn’t use it if you’re allergic to any ingredients in the spray.

Is Mometasone A Steroid Or Antihistamine?

Mometasone is a type of steroid that helps reduce swelling and irritation in your nose. Antihistamines work differently by blocking histamine, a chemical released during an allergic reaction. Both can help relieve allergy symptoms, but they work in different ways.

How Does Mometasone Furoate Nasal Spray Work?

The corticosteroid in mometasone furoate nasal spray reduces inflammation inside your nose by blocking the release of substances that cause the inflammation. It is absorbed into the mucous membranes of your nose, so it can work exactly where you need it. It also alleviates associated symptoms, such as sneezing, an itchy nose and a blocked or runny nose.

Mometasone furoate nasal spray isn’t suitable for everyone, so your prescriber may recommend an alternative treatment.
