Dioralyte Sachets prevent dehydration by replacing fluids lost due to diarrhoea or acute vomiting. The sachets contain a pleasant-tasting powder, which is dissolved in a glass of water. This adds electrolytes to the water, which helps the body to absorb more fluids. Dioralyte can be used by people of all ages, including infants. Preventing dehydration is especially important for the elderly and the young.

Dioralyte is most often used alongside an antibiotic in treating traveller’s diarrhoea. This is a condition that occurs after consuming contaminated food or drinking water, usually in a foreign country. It is most often caused by a bacterial infection, though in some cases, it can be caused by a virus or parasite. There are a number of precautions that can be taken while travelling, which will minimise your risk of contracting traveller’s diarrhoea. Avoid drinking tap water, and only eat food that has been properly prepared. It is important to take care of your own hygiene as well.

Dioralyte not only replaces the fluids lost during vomiting and diarrhoea, it also replaces lost electrolytes that are just as important to keeping you healthy.

One sachet of Dioralyte should be taken after every loose bowel movement. Open the sachet, and empty the contents into 200ml of fresh drinking water. Stir until the medicine has dissolved completely, and drink the mixture. 200ml is required for the correct electrolyte balance, so keep as close to this quantity as possible. If no drinking water is available, boil the water and let it cool. To be safe, boil and cool all water before treating an infant with Dioralyte.
The solution can be refrigerated but should not be stored for more than 24 hours.

Dioralyte is usually well-tolerated – you should not suffer from any adverse effects. However, if you notice ay abnormal effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

The active ingredients in Dioralyte are:
Glucose, sodium chloride, potassium chloride, disodium hydrogen citrate
Dioralyte also contains the following inactive ingredients to make up the complete product:
Saccharin sodium, silicon dioxide, artificial flavourings

Dioralyte is unsuitable for you if:
You are allergic to any of the ingredients of Dioralyte
You have a partially or fully blocked bowel
Take care when using Dioralyte if you:
Have kidney or liver disease
Are diabetic
Are pregnant or breastfeeding
Suffer from allergies
Are on a diet low in potassium or sodium
You are giving the medicine to a child under the age of 2
You may require other treatments, including antibiotics if your symptoms persist for more than 48 hours.

All our orders are sent out using Royal Mail. We always aim to dispatch all orders received before 4pm the same working day. Any orders received after 4pm or over the weekend will be dispatched the next working day. Orders will not be dispatched on weekends or bank holidays.

We ensure all parcels are in plain packaging for discreet delivery of your medicines and pharmacy goods.

Deliveries containing pharmacy-only or prescription medicines may require a signature on receipt. 

Delivery is free for all NHS prescriptions.

Please note: Royal Mail do not deliver on Sundays or Bank Holidays - this should be taken into account when ordering. 

If you are not home to accept your delivery, a card should be left by the Royal Mail representative. This card will provide details of where you can collect the order or how to arrange re-delivery.

Should you be unable to collect your missed delivery or arrange for your medication to be redelivered by Royal Mail, the pharmacy can resend your medication to the same, or a different address provided it has been returned to us and this happens within a 30 day window.

Once a package has been shipped with Royal Mail we advise that you are bound to the terms and conditions of their use together with the terms and conditions contained herein.

You have the right to cancel your order up to the point when your treatment is dispatched. The pharmacist must destroy any medication within 30 days of it being returned, even un-opened boxes, so we are not able to offer refunds once your treatment has been dispatched.
