Canesten 200mg Pessary can help to treat the infection internally to ensure that all symptoms of thrush are addressed rather than just the external soreness and itching. The treatment can provide rapid relief from these unpleasant symptoms, enabling you get back to normal with faster than ever.

Canesten or the clotrimazole as it is known by its drug name has been used for many years under medical supervision for treating pregnant women who have thrush. Although no clinical trials have been done it has been used of many years without unwanted effects to mother or child.

Canesten 200mg Pessary can be used during pregnancy, but only under the supervision of a physician or midwife. During pregnancy the pessary should be inserted without using an applicator.

 

Antibiotics can kill the bacteria in the vagina needed to stop the naturally occurring fungus to overgrow and cause thrush. Keep treatment at hand to use at the first signs of thrush.

Adults, including the elderly (under 60 years old) and adolescents 16 years and over:

Insert one Canesten 200mg Pessary using the applicator in to the vagina at night.

Use for 3 consecutive nights.

Not everyone will experience side effects when they use Canesten 200mg Pessary, however if you do they can include:

Vaginal irritation and burning sensation may occur.

The active ingredients contained in Canesten 200mg Pessary is/are:

Clotrimazole 200mg per pessary.

The medicine also contains the following inactive ingredients to make up the complete product:

Calcium lactate pentahydrate, maize starch, crospovidone, colloidal anhydrous silica, lactic acid, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, hypromellose and microcrystalline cellulose.


Reading the following warnings carefully will help to ensure you are selecting an appropriate product. 

  • Consult your doctor if this is your first time to experience candidal vaginitis symptoms. 
  • If you or your partner has ever had a sexually transmitted disease, or if you have had more than 2 candidal vaginitis in the last 6 months, consult your doctor before using the product. 
  • If you are aged over 60 years of age or under 16 years of age, or if you have ever had an allergic reaction to vaginal antifungal products including imidazoles and Canesten, consult your doctor before using the product. 
  • Avoid using Canesten 200mg Pessary, if you are pregnant, or trying to become pregnant. 
  • Consult your doctor before using Canesten 200mg Pessary if you have irregular and abnormal vaginal bleeding or foul smelling vaginal discharge or blood-stained discharge, nausea or vomiting, fever or chills, diarrhoea, vaginal or vulval ulcers, sores or blisters, dysuria, lower abdominal pain or adverse events such as irritation, redness or swelling associated with this product. 
  • Keep out of reach and sight of children.

All our orders are sent out using Royal Mail. We always aim to dispatch all orders received before 4pm the same working day. Any orders received after 4pm or over the weekend will be dispatched the next working day. Orders will not be dispatched on weekends or bank holidays.

We ensure all parcels are in plain packaging for discreet delivery of your medicines and pharmacy goods.

Deliveries containing pharmacy-only or prescription medicines may require a signature on receipt. 

Delivery is free for all NHS prescriptions.

Please note: Royal Mail do not deliver on Sundays or Bank Holidays - this should be taken into account when ordering. 

If you are not home to accept your delivery, a card should be left by the Royal Mail representative. This card will provide details of where you can collect the order or how to arrange re-delivery.

Should you be unable to collect your missed delivery or arrange for your medication to be redelivered by Royal Mail, the pharmacy can resend your medication to the same, or a different address provided it has been returned to us and this happens within a 30 day window.

Once a package has been shipped with Royal Mail we advise that you are bound to the terms and conditions of their use together with the terms and conditions contained herein.

You have the right to cancel your order up to the point when your treatment is dispatched. The pharmacist must destroy any medication within 30 days of it being returned, even un-opened boxes, so we are not able to offer refunds once your treatment has been dispatched.
