Common FAQs
Is Travel Sickness serious?
Travel sickness can be frustrating and inconvenient, but it is not harmful to your health in the long term. In the vast majority of cases, symptoms go away once the journey is over.
There are a few cases in which symptoms will continue even after the journey is over. This is called Mal de Debarquement Syndrome – it occurs when the body does not properly readjust to being motionless on land.
Is Malarone indicated for all travel destinations?
Malarone is not indicated for all travel destinations, as it is only effective against certain strains of malaria parasite that occur in specific areas in the world. Check the government Fit For Travel website for an up-to-date list of the medication and vaccines recommended for your trip.
What Are Imodium Softgels Used For?
Imodium Softgels, along with other Imodium products like capsules, caplets and instant melts, are used to treat the symptoms of diarrhoea. They can be used for short term or travel diarrhoea and can also be used for the short-term treatment of diarrhoea due to Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).
Will I feel sick every time I travel?
You are most likely to suffer from travel sickness when your body is experiencing an unfamiliar type of motion. So, as you become accustomed to a particular form of transport, it will often become more bearable. However, in some cases, the vestibular system will never adapt to a certain form of motion.
For some people, travel sickness occurs as the body’s default reaction to a certain form of motion. If this is the case, focus on relaxing and thinking positively.
Do Scopoderm Patches Work For All Types Of Travel?
Scopoderm’s long-lasting effects make them ideal for multiple types of travel – road, sea, air and land. Simply place a patch onto your skin five to six hours before the start of your journey and you’re covered for up to 72 hours without needing to think about it again.
With three-day protection, they’re ideal for longer journeys like cruises or coach tours, keeping you comfortable for the duration. If your journey lasts more than three days just remember to apply a new patch behind the opposite ear.
What is Malaria and how do you get it?
Malaria is a tropical disease caused by a parasite called plasmodium. It is carried by mosquitos and transferred when they bite you. It causes symptoms of fever, headaches, nausea, muscle pains and diarrhoea. It is very serious and requires urgent medical attention.
Can Malaria be fatal?
Malaria destroys red blood cells and clogs the capillaries (blood vessels) that supply blood to the brain and other major body organs. If not treated in a timely manner, this may prove fatal.
How is malaria treated?
The type of drugs used to treat malaria depend on how severe the condition has become. There is also the factor of chloroquine resistance to consider, which can be a problem in certain cases. Current treatment options for malaria include chloroquine and quinine.
