Ovesse Cream Information

What Is Ovesse Vaginal Cream?

Ovesse Vaginal Cream is a local form of Hormone Replacement Therapy available without prescription. When applied, it can help to relieve the symptoms of vaginal atrophy. This refers to the dryness and irritation that can occur after menopause as your vaginal wall becomes thinner and less elastic.

Can I Use Ovesse?

Ovesse is intended for use by people assigned female at birth aged 50 or above who have not had a menstrual period for at least one year.

It may not be suitable for people with a history of certain cancers or who have experienced abnormal bleeding since their periods stopped.

Is Ovesse The Same As Other Vaginal Oestrogen Creams?

Ovesse contains estriol, making it similar to other vaginal oestrogen creams. However, unlike other topical oestrogen creams such as Ovestin, it is available without a prescription.

How Does Ovesse Work?

Ovesse cream contains the active ingredient estriol (1mg per gram). This helps to replace the oestrogen in your vaginal tissues. This helps to reverse the thinning and dryness that typically happen in the vagina when oestrogen levels fall.

Ovesse can alleviate the symptoms of oestrogen deficiency including itching and burning sensations, dryness, soreness, irritation and pain during sex.

How To Use Ovesse Cream

Fill the applicator as directed in the Product Information Leaflet and apply the cream to the inside of your vagina (ideally before going to bed).

Initially you should use one application (0.5g of cream) per day for the first two weeks and twice per week thereafter.

Please read the Patient Information Leaflet find out what you must do if:

  • You use more Ovesse than you should or if you swallow it accidentally
  • You forget to use Ovesse
  • You stop using Ovesse
  • You need to have surgery
