Rabeprazole 10mg Tablets Information

What Is Rabeprazole?

Rabeprazole is a prescription medication from a group of medicines called Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPIs). It reduces the amount of acid your stomach produces, and so can treat problems caused when you have too much stomach acid, including acid reflux, heartburn, and stomach ulcers.

Can I Take Rabeprazole?

After a short online consultation, a member of our clinical team will be able to advise if Rabeprazole is suitable for you. You may not be able to take Rabeprazole if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have liver problems, or have ever had a skin reaction after taking similar medications, such as other Proton Pump Inhibitors.

What Is Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease?

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is when your stomach acid flows back up from your stomach into your food pipe. This can cause a number of uncomfortable symptoms, like heartburn, chest discomfort, or a sour taste in your mouth.

How Does Rabeprazole Work?

Rabeprazole is a Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI), which means that it works to lower the amount of acid your stomach produces. With less stomach acid present, it’s less likely to flow back up through your food pipe and therefore less likely to cause indigestion, heartburn and symptoms of acid reflux.

How To Use Rabeprazole

You should swallow Rabeprazole tablets whole with water. Typically, you’ll be taking one tablet a day, either with or without food. Always follow the dose directions your prescriber gives you, and never change the dose or length of treatment without them telling you to.

Ingredients

The active substance is rabeprazole sodium.

The other ingredients in the tablet core are mannitol (E421), light magnesium oxide (E530), hydroxypropylcellulose (E463), low-substituted hydroxypropylcellulose (E463) and magnesium stearate (E572).

The other ingredients in the coating are ethylcellulose (E462), light magnesium oxide (E530), hypromellose phthalate, diacetylated monoglycerides (E472a), talc (E553b), titanium dioxide (E171), red iron oxide (E172) (10 mg only) and yellow iron oxide (E172) (20 mg only).

Common side effects that you might experience when taking Rabeprazole include:

  • Abdominal pain
  • Back pain
  • Benign polyps in the stomach
