Rabeprazole 10mg Tablets Information
What Is Rabeprazole?
Rabeprazole is a prescription medication from a group of medicines called Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPIs). It reduces the amount of acid your stomach produces, and so can treat problems caused when you have too much stomach acid, including acid reflux, heartburn, and stomach ulcers.
Can I Take Rabeprazole?
After a short online consultation, a member of our clinical team will be able to advise if Rabeprazole is suitable for you. You may not be able to take Rabeprazole if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have liver problems, or have ever had a skin reaction after taking similar medications, such as other Proton Pump Inhibitors.
What Is Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease?
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is when your stomach acid flows back up from your stomach into your food pipe. This can cause a number of uncomfortable symptoms, like heartburn, chest discomfort, or a sour taste in your mouth.
How Does Rabeprazole Work?
Rabeprazole is a Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI), which means that it works to lower the amount of acid your stomach produces. With less stomach acid present, it’s less likely to flow back up through your food pipe and therefore less likely to cause indigestion, heartburn and symptoms of acid reflux.
How To Use Rabeprazole
You should swallow Rabeprazole tablets whole with water. Typically, you’ll be taking one tablet a day, either with or without food. Always follow the dose directions your prescriber gives you, and never change the dose or length of treatment without them telling you to.
Ingredients
The active substance is rabeprazole sodium.
The other ingredients in the tablet core are mannitol (E421), light magnesium oxide (E530), hydroxypropylcellulose (E463), low-substituted hydroxypropylcellulose (E463) and magnesium stearate (E572).
The other ingredients in the coating are ethylcellulose (E462), light magnesium oxide (E530), hypromellose phthalate, diacetylated monoglycerides (E472a), talc (E553b), titanium dioxide (E171), red iron oxide (E172) (10 mg only) and yellow iron oxide (E172) (20 mg only).

Common side effects that you might experience when taking Rabeprazole include:

Rabeprazole FAQs
What Is Rabeprazole?
Rabeprazole is a medication that lowers the amount of acid your stomach makes. Prescribers use it for conditions like acid reflux, stomach ulcers, and other medical issues caused by too much acid, like gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD).
Do I Need A Prescription For Rabeproazole?
Yes, Rabeprazole is a prescription-only medication, which means you can only get it from a licensed prescriber. This could be a doctor or a pharmacist, including UK-based registered online pharmacies like The Independent Pharmacy. You’ll need to complete a short consultation to check if Rabeprazole is right for you.
How Do I Take Rabeprazole?
You should take Rabeprazole exactly as your prescriber tells you to. Swallow your Rabeprazole tablet with water and never crush or chew it. Take it at the same time each day to allow it to work properly. Never take more Rabeprazole than you’ve been prescribed. This won’t make it work better, but it can increase the risk of side effects.
How Soon Does Rabeprazole Work?
How soon Rabeprazole works varies depending on what it’s being used to treat. For symptoms like heartburn, it can start to work very quickly, reducing the amount of stomach acid produced within a few hours. Some conditions may require several weeks of treatment before the symptoms fully resolve. Your prescriber will be able to advise on this.
How Many Doses Of Rabeprazole Do I Take Each Day?
This depends on what you’re taking it for. For most conditions, you’ll need to take Rabeprazole once a day, but your prescriber will tell you how many doses to take. If you forget to take a dose, take it when you remember and continue as normal. Never double up on doses to make up for a missed one.
What Is A Proton Pump Inhibitor?
A proton pump inhibitor, or PPI, is a type of medicine that blocks acid production in the stomach. Rabeprazole is one of many PPIs. Different people may respond better to one PPI over another, but they all work to relieve heartburn, heal ulcers and prevent acid from damaging your stomach and food pipe.
Can I Eat Immediately After Taking Rabeprazole?
Eating after taking Rabeprazole won’t affect how the medicine works. You can take it either with or without food, but you should try to take it at the same sort of time each day for consistency. This allows the medicine to work best. If you’re unsure, speak to your prescriber.
What Are The Side Effects Of Rabeprazole?
Common side effects of Rabeprazole include headache, dizziness, diarrhoea, constipation, and feeling or being sick. Serious side effects are rare but can include allergic reactions, severe (watery or bloody) diarrhoea, or liver problems. For the full list of potential side effects, always check the product information leaflet that comes with your medication.
Can I Take Rabeprazole Long Term?
If your prescriber tells you that it’s safe to take Rabeprazole long term, then yes, you can. However, using Rabeprazole for longer than three months can cause issues with your magnesium, potassium or calcium levels, so you may need regular monitoring. It’s important to have regular reviews of your medication to make sure it’s still suitable for you.
Where Can I Buy Rabeprazole Online?
You can get Rabeprazole online from a registered UK pharmacy such as The Independent Pharmacy. You’ll need to complete a short and easy consultation, which will be reviewed by a member of our pharmacy team. If approved, they’ll issue you a prescription and your Rabeprazole will be delivered directly to your door in discreet packaging.
