Prescription Hair Loss Tablets

Hair Loss Tablets are an inexpensive UK prescription-only medication that is issued to men to tackle hair loss and male pattern baldness (also known as androgenetic alopecia). Generic Hair Loss Tablets are fast becoming a popular low-cost alternative to expensive branded hair loss treatments for men.

Hair Loss Tablets is taken orally. Clinical studies have shown it to have up to a 90% success rate in combating hair loss and increasing hair growth in men, but it is not suitable to be taken by women. Please note that Hair Loss Tablets are a baldness treatment, not a cure — you need to keep taking it for it to be effective.

What causes hair loss in men?

Hair loss is caused by the male hormone testosterone being chemically converted into an androgenic hormone known as dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Dihydrotestosterone leads to hair loss by causing your hair follicles to shrink, which in turn causes them to fall out.

Symptoms vary from man to man, but are gradual and usually include:

    • Slower hair regrowth and a change in hair texture and quality
    • A receding hairline
    • Thinning of the hair on the temples and crown of the head. This may then progress to complete baldness in some men, whereas others are left with horseshoe-shaped hair around the sides and back of the head.

Hair loss can also be caused by stress (alopecia areata) or other external factors, such as illness or chemotherapy. However, Hair Loss Tablets are only suitable for male pattern baldness (androgenetic alopecia).

How effective are Hair Loss Tablets?

Clinical studies among men aged 18-41 (with mild to moderate hair loss) have shown that:

    • Hair Loss Tablets can produce a visible improvement in hair growth within 4-6 months of taking 1mg daily.
    • After 1-2 years Hair Loss Tablets are at their maximum level of benefit.
    • If you take Hair Loss Tablets for 5 years, you have a 90% chance of having either more or the same amount of hair that you had when you began taking the medication. This compares with a 25% chance in men who have not been taking Hair Loss Tablets.

    Hair Loss Tablets results

Hair Loss Tablets should be taken once daily, every day, to ensure it is effective. Men normally see positive results from hair loss treatment within three to six months. You need to be patient and persistent with your treatment initially - hair loss isn't stopped overnight!

You may first notice that your hair loss or receding hairline slows and then stops. In some cases, if the follicle is still able you may notice hair re-growth. The effects of taking Hair Loss Tablets wear off six months after you stop taking the medication, with the effects ceasing completely nine to twelve months afterwards.

It should also be noted that your hair follicles grow and change every three years.

Hair Loss Tablets is most effective in treating hair loss where there has been some receding hair line and thinning. They are less likely to be effective in areas where there is already complete hair loss. For best results, you should start taking hair loss 1mg tablets as early as possible when you notice your hair thinning.

    Hair Loss Tablets price

Although it is medically equivalent, Hair Loss Tablets are a generic hair loss treatment - this means that they are unbranded. Generic treatments are still manufactured to the same high standards as the branded treatments, however, the drug companies don't have the same high research costs to recoup, therefore unbranded hair loss tablets costs much less.

You can compare the costs to buy generic Hair Loss Tablets and buy branded here:

    Generic Price Branded Price Saving
    1 Month (28 tablets) £14.99 £51.99 £37.00
    2 Months (56 tablets) £24.98 £92.98 £68.00
    3 Months (84 tablets) £34.98 £122.49 £87.51
    6 months (168 tablets) £59.94 £230.04 £170.10

Hair Loss Tablets with other hair loss treatments

Although there is mixed clinical evidence to show extra effects, Hair Loss Tablets can be used with topical hair loss treatment such as Regaine. It should not be taken with any other oral hair loss treatments or supplements.

Do Hair Loss Tablets work for all men?

Hair Loss Tablets is clinically proven to combat hair loss. Nearly 6,000 men between the ages of 18 and 41 took part in one study, which went on to show that:

    • 9 out of 10 men experienced the benefits of taking Hair Loss Tablets
    • Hair loss was halted in 90% of participants
    • 77% of men noticed an increase in hair growth

Bear in mind that it’s always best to take Hair Loss Tablets as soon as you notice any hair loss. Hair loss treatment can’t regenerate your hair follicles, but it can protect them from further damage and preserve any hair you do have left.

How long should you take Hair Loss Tablets for?

Generally, it will take between 3-6 months to start seeing the results of your treatment. Hair Loss Tablets is designed as a long-term preventative treatment for hair loss and can be safely taken for many years.

If you do decide to stop taking Hair Loss Tablets, always consult your GP first, and bear in mind that any improvement to the quality of your hair will be lost should you choose to stop.

Is it safe to buy Hair Loss Tablets online?

In certain circumstances, yes. You need to make sure that you are buying from a UK-registered online pharmacy to ensure you receive genuine medication. If the website doesn't display its registration credentials clearly and doesn't have contact details clearly displayed, it's probably best to avoid it.

As male pattern baldness is easily self-diagnosed, The Independent Pharmacy is able to allow our doctors to prescribe Hair Loss Tablets to men who are suffering from hair loss safely. We ask you to complete a short medical questionnaire before checkout to allow us to ensure that it will be safe for you and that you are likely to get the best results! We sort your private prescription and pass it straight to our own pharmacy who dispatch it for you same day before 4pm.

Alternative treatments for hair loss and male pattern baldness

You are able to take Regaine Extra Strength (minoxidil 5%) in addition to, or instead of, Hair Loss Tablets. Regaine Extra Strength comes as either a lotion or foam and it is the only topical hair loss treatment which is proven to be effective. Regaine is the only hair loss treatment that is available over the counter, you cannot buy Hair Loss Tablets without a prescription.

There are also other options like hair loss surgery, but these procedures can be expensive and come with mixed results. Non-surgical remedies may be a safer option.

Some people buy hair growth tablets, supplements, and vitamins from online stores and shops on the high street — but these are often from dubious origins and cannot be proven to be effective and safe.

Generally, it’s best to stick to prescription medication. Speak to your doctor if you’re not sure.
