Nasacort 55mcg Nasal Spray Information

What Is Nasacort 55mcg Nasal Spray?

Nasacort Allergy Spray is a nasal spray used to treat allergic reactions such as hayfever or dust allergies (allergic rhinitis). This prescription-strength corticosteroid treatment is suitable for adults and children over the age of two, providing 24-hour non-drowsy relief from congestion and itchy or runny nose.

Can I Use Nasacort?

Nasacort is suitable for regular use by adults who are suffering from blocked, itchy or runny nose from hayfever, dust or pet allergies. You should consult our clinical team before using Nasacort if you have recently had nasal surgery, glaucoma, cataracts or an injury inside your nose.

Is Nasacort A Steroid Or Antihistamine?

Although it is effective in treating the symptoms of an allergic reaction, Nasacort is not an antihistamine. Its active ingredient is a corticosteroid, replicating the effects of cortisol. This is a stress hormone which is produced in your adrenal gland and can help reverse the allergic reaction that causes congestion.

How Does Nasacort 24hr Allergy Spray Work?

Nasacort contains the active ingredient triamcinolone acetonide. This belongs to a group of medicines called corticosteroids. These work by mimicking your body's stress hormone cortisol, suppressing your immune system's over-reaction to allergens, easing inflammation and clearing your nasal passages. This in turn helps to alleviate other symptoms like itching and runny nose.

How To Use Nasacort Spray

Always use Nasacort Spray as directed by our clinical team.

Gently blow your nose to clear your sinuses before using. Then, insert the nozzle into one nostril, closing the other with your finger and breathe in gently while spraying.

Prime the pump before your first use by pushing the nozzle down five times until a fine mist is produced.

Ingredients

The active ingredient in Nasacort Spray is triamcinolone acetonide.

Other inactive ingredients include microcrystalline cellulose, carmellose sodium, polysorbate 80, purified water, anhydrous glucose, benzalkonium chloride, disodium edetate and hydrochloric acid or sodium hydroxide.
