Zomig Rapimelt Information
What Is Zomig Rapimelt?
Zomig Rapimelt is a medication that’s used to treat migraine headaches. It’s especially suitable if you have problems swallowing, as the tablets dissolve in your mouth, allowing your body to absorb the medication. Zomig Rapimelt helps to ease symptoms such as pain, nausea, vomiting and sensitivity to light and sound.
Can I Take Zomig Rapimelt?
Zomig Rapimelt is not suitable if you are under 18 or over 65.
You may not be able to take Zomig Rapimelt if you have:

How Is Zomig Rapimelt Different To Zomig Tablets?
The main difference between Zomig and Zomig Rapimelt is that Zomig Rapimelt is designed to dissolve in your mouth whereas Zomig tablets need to be swallowed whole. It may be easier to take if you find tablets hard to swallow. Both contain the active ingredient zolmitriptan.
How Does Zomig Rapimelt Work?
Migraine headaches may be caused by widening or swollen blood vessels in your head. Zolmitriptan, the active ingredient in Zomig Rapimelt, works to reduce the widening of these blood vessels. This may help to ease symptoms such as pain, nausea, vomiting and sensitivity to light and sound.
How To Take Zomig Rapimelt
You can take Zomig Rapimelt as soon as a migraine headache starts. Place one tablet on your tongue and allow it to dissolve. It will then be swallowed with your saliva (spit) and absorbed into your body. If you still have a migraine after two hours, you can take another tablet.
Do not take more than 10mg in 24 hours. This means:
- Up to 4 × 2.5mg tablets in 24 hours
- Up to 2 × 5mg tablets in 24 hours

The active ingredient in Zomig Rapimelt is zolmitriptan. The other ingredients in the medication are aspartame (E951), citric acid anhydrous, silica colloidal anhydrous, crospovidone, magnesium stearate, mannitol (E421), microcrystalline cellulose, orange flavour (contains benzyl alcohol) and sodium hydrogen carbonate.
