- Pressure and fullness in the abdomen
How does Senocalm work?
These capsules contain the ingredient simethicone, which is an antiflatulent medication used to reduce excess gas and wind that causes abdominal discomfort. It works by combining all the small bubbles of gas in the digestive system into larger pockets making them quicker and easier to pass.
Senocalm also contains peppermint oil which has been shown to have a relaxing effect on the smooth muscle in the gut to help to reduce cramps and spasms.
Senocalm is just one medicine used to treat excess gas as a symptom of IBS. If you are suffering primarily from other symptoms such as spasms and have found that Senocalm is not effective for you you may want to try an antispasmodic treatment such as Buscopan, Mebeverine, or Alverine.
