Fluconazole 150mg Capsules are a quick and effective oral treatment for thrush for men and women.

Fluconazole is a single dose treatment. One capsule is taken orally. This can be done at any point in the day. Food will not impact its effectiveness.

It begins to take effect immediately. Most patients will see results within a few days of taking the treatment. At most, symptoms will clear after one week.

Clotrimazole cream can also be used with Fluconazole to help ease the external symptoms of thrush (redness itching irritation) whilst the capsule takes effect.

Thrush is caused by an excess of Candida yeast, which usually lives safely in parts of the body such as the mouth and vagina. Candida levels increase when there is a change in the acidity of the environment. This may be caused by a weak immune system, hormonal changes, some medications or certain

Symptoms in women include burning, itching, swelling or soreness of the vagina, vulva and surrounding areas. It may also involve a pale odourless discharge. Women who take Fluconazole often see an improvement in the infection within a few days. The capsule can be used both to treat and to prevent infections.

Thrush on the penis is called candida balanitis. Symptoms include soreness of the glans, a tightened foreskin, and a similar pale odourless discharge from the urethra. Fluconazole takes longer to take effect in men. It may take up to one week to alleviate symptoms. Again, the capsule can be used both to treat and to prevent candidiasis.

An oral fluconazole capsule can be used with clotrimazole cream to provide added relief and help to fight the infection. Recurrent epsiodes of thrush should be investigated by a GP as it can be a sign of underlying conditions such as diabetes or pregnancy.
